Soul's Remnant Beginner Guide: Tutorial, Stats & Fast Leveling

Overview

Soul's Remnant is a free-to-play 2D platformer MMORPG that launched in Early Access on Steam on August 13, 2026. This guide walks new players through the tutorial, the first quests, and the fastest route to level 10, when the starter area opens up.

The tutorial is short but easy to get stuck in — the crowds, the first platform puzzle and the unlabelled hotbar stop a lot of players on day one. Follow the Shepherd NPC's steps in order and you will be through it quickly.

Steps

1. Step label — Follow the Shepherd NPC's tutorial steps in order — the chain ends with the Shepherd's Barrier quest.
2. Step label — Press K to open the Skills Window and learn a free starter skill: slash, magic burst, ninja throw or nova.
3. Step label — Press O to open the stats window and spend your 5 starting points on the stat behind your chosen skill.
4. Step label — Clear Slime Hunt! (5 slimes) for the Faded Innocence weapon, equip it from your inventory, and drag a potion onto your hotbar.
5. Step label — At level 10, grab the free dungeon ticket from an NPC on the northwest outskirts and clear the Slime Garden.

What to watch out for

The first platform puzzle stops many new players: press down and jump at the same time to drop through the platform below. The starting zone is also packed at launch — channels (CC) help you find free spawns, but changing channels wipes active buffs such as the 2x EXP coupon, which is a known bug.

Tip: stat resets are free until level 10 — use that window to test different spreads before the fee kicks in.

Before the next run

Once you leave the starter area, party up for roughly double XP, press B to research the monsters you grind, and start the Daily Hunt from the Quest Master for your 2x EXP coupon.
